O glimmering goddess all purple and pleasure

Thou azure-gemmed vault of starry night-splendor

Open for me the voluptuous sky

And shed upon earth thy faint faery light

Nuit! Nuit! Tis Thee I invoke!

Enfold me and wrap me in thy gemm-ed cloak!

To Me! To Me! I love thee, I sigh!

For thine is the milk of the naked night Sky!

Hooded and hidden, thou gem of the crown

Infinite space be thy three-veil-ed gown

Thee I invoke, O beauteous one

I who am priestess of snake and of sun (or: I who am priest of the snake of the sun)

Nuit! Nuit! Tis Thee I invoke!

Enfold me and wrap me in thy gemm-ed cloak!

To Me! To Me! I love thee, I sigh!

For thine is the milk of the naked night Sky!

I dissolve into naught -the folds of thy womb

The dew of the stars I take as my tomb

For one cherished kiss I surrender my all

And into the depths of thy star-bosom fall

With wine and rich food and love I am filled
